Starting School
If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019, they will be eligible to start Year R in the school year beginning September 2023. The main round of applications for new YrR runs from 1 November to 15 January.

Wallisdean Infant School is a Hampshire County Council LA maintained school, catering for children between the ages of 4 – 7 years. Although not legally required to attend school until the term following their fifth birthday, most children join our school from the September following their fourth birthday. Entry to Year R is staggered at the beginning of the Autumn Term, allowing your child to build their confidence in a new setting with new friends and teachers but without disrupting routines established through their previous attendance at pre-school. Most children attend full time within the first week.
In Reception Year (YrR) we follow the national Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and in Year 1 (Yr1) and Year 2 (Yr2) pupils follow Key Stage 1 (KS1) of the National Curriculum.
